From "I think I need help" to your first session
Five steps. That's the whole thing.
Tell us a bit about you
You'll go through a short, simple form where we ask about your preferences — what you're going through, what you're looking for, the language you're most comfortable in, and what kind of person you'd feel at ease talking to. It takes just a few minutes.
We match you with a psychologist
Based on your answers, we point you toward the psychologist on our team who best fits what you need — their specialty, their approach, and their availability. It's a simple matchmaking, not an algorithm you have to trust blindly.
Pick a time and book
Choose a slot that works for you and confirm. Booking is quick and simple — no phone calls, no waiting for someone to get back to you. Payment is handled securely inside the Ivory platform.
Meet online, from wherever you are
Sessions happen over video call, in private. Nothing is ever recorded — no audio, no video. Your first session is mostly about getting to know each other and understanding what you'd like to work on. There's nothing to prepare.
Continue at your own pace
Book as many sessions as you need, when you need them. You and your psychologist decide the rhythm together — weekly, every two weeks, or whatever fits your life. Need to reschedule? Do it from your confirmation email, at least 48 hours ahead.
It might not click the first time. That's completely okay.
Therapy is a relationship, and not every relationship fits straight away. Our matchmaking gets you close, but sometimes the connection just isn't there — and that says nothing about you, or about your psychologist.
If it doesn't feel right, you can simply book your next session with someone else on our team. No awkward conversation, no explanation needed, no starting from zero. Finding the right fit is part of the process.
Integrative Approach to Psychotherapy
We know that one size doesn’t fit all — and therapy shouldn’t either. That’s why our team works from an integrative approach to psychotherapy.
Each psychologist has a main theoretical background — which may include cognitive-behavioural, psychodynamic, emotion-focused, or other approaches — while also drawing on complementary therapeutic perspectives when they can better support your individual needs.
Rather than fitting you into a particular therapeutic model, we adapt the process to you, your experiences, your goals, and what you need from therapy.
All approaches we use are grounded in scientific evidence and guided by the ethical and deontological principles of the Psychology profession.
What that looks like
A shared Integrative approach, plus different specialties across the team.
Care built around people, not paperwork
Sessions 100% online
Video calls from home, from work, from anywhere you feel comfortable. No commute, no waiting room.
A person, not an algorithm
A short form points you to the right psychologist for you — and you can switch freely if it isn't the right fit.
Accessible pricing
We keep sessions priced so that cost is not the reason you postpone taking care of yourself.
Certified clinical psychologists
Every therapist is credentialled, accredited by their professional body, and under ongoing supervision.
Nothing to prepare
Pick a slot, confirm, show up. Rescheduling is just as easy, straight from your confirmation email.
Private and encrypted
No therapy session is ever recorded. Your data is encrypted and never shared with third parties.

- Languages available: Portuguese and English (other languages depending on availability — confirm when booking).
- This service is only for people aged 18 or over.
- Before your first session you fill in a short questionnaire, used only to match you with the most suitable psychologist.
Prices
- Individual session · 50 minutes · EUR 45. Couples session · 60 minutes · EUR 60. Psychology consultations are exempt from VAT under Article 9 of the Portuguese VAT Code.
- Prices may be updated. The price that applies is the one shown on the booking platform before you confirm your booking; the Terms of Service may not show the latest price.
- Session vouchers: every item in the store with a price above 0 euros, other than a Healing Giftcard, includes one individual 50-minute session at no additional cost, for an adult aged 18 or over. The voucher does not expire.
- Each person can use one included session for themselves. The others can be given to another adult.
- A couples session is always paid, at the current price.
- If you return the item before its included session has taken place, that session is cancelled.
Booking, rescheduling, cancellation and refunds
To book, you fill in a short questionnaire, we propose a psychologist, you choose a day and time on the booking platform and you receive a confirmation email. You can change psychologist at any time by booking with another member of the team.
- Rescheduling or cancelling: free of charge up to 48 hours before the session, using the link in your confirmation email or by email to care@ivory-therapy.com. You then choose a new date or, if you paid for the session, a full refund; if you are using a session voucher, you keep the voucher.
- Less than 48 hours before, or no-show: the session counts as held. There is no refund and a session voucher counts as used. The exception is documented force majeure (for example sudden illness, hospital admission or the death of a family member), which we assess case by case; we accept one such exception per 12 months.
- Lateness: if you are late, the session ends at the scheduled time and the price does not change. If you have not connected after 15 minutes, it counts as a no-show. If the psychologist is late, the time is made up within the session or, if that is not possible, you choose a new date or a full refund.
- If we cancel or reschedule: you choose a new date or a full refund, at no cost. A session voucher stays valid.
- Technical failures: if a session cannot take place or is interrupted because of a failure of the platform or on our side, it is rescheduled at no cost or refunded. If the failure is in your equipment or connection, the psychologist tries to reach you for 10 minutes; if that is not possible, the first occurrence is rescheduled at no cost and later ones follow the 48-hour rule.
- Refunds are made to the original payment method within 14 days at the latest after the decision to refund.
Payment and invoicing
- Sessions are paid when you book, on the booking platform, by the payment methods shown there. The payment is received by Ivory World, Lda.
- From 4 November 2026, IVORY issues, in its own name, an invoice-receipt for each paid session, sent promptly after payment to the email address you gave. From that date, psychologists do not invoice you for sessions booked through IVORY.
- Invoices contain no clinical information beyond the legal name of the service. If you want an invoice with your tax number (NIF), enter it when you book.
- Sessions given under a session voucher are at no additional cost to the holder.

Questions people ask before starting
Can I book a session even if I haven't bought a piece?
Yes. You can book directly with our team of psychologists at any time — buying a product is just one of two ways in, not a requirement.
How do you find the right psychologist for me?
When you start booking, you go through a simple form with preference questions. We use your answers to match you with the team member who best fits what you need.
What if I don't connect with my psychologist?
That is completely normal and completely okay. You can switch at any time by simply booking your next session with another therapist on the team.
How will the sessions actually happen?
All sessions take place online, by video call. We do not offer in-person sessions, or sessions by telephone or written messages.
Are sessions available in other languages?
Yes. We offer sessions in multiple languages, and you can select your preferred one when booking.
Is what I say private?
Yes. What you say is protected by professional secrecy. Payments are made on encrypted pages. We work with service providers (for example for bookings, video calls and payments). See how we protect your data.
What if I need to reschedule?
You can reschedule through your confirmation email, at least 48 hours in advance. If you cancel less than 48 hours before your session, or miss it without notice, the session counts as held and is not refunded, except in documented cases of force majeure.
How many sessions can I book?
As many as you need. There is no subscription and no fixed package — you and your psychologist decide the rhythm together.
How do online sessions work?
Sessions take place by video call on Zoom. Please do not record the sessions; any recording by us or by the psychologist would need your specific written consent. You need a computer, tablet or phone with a camera, a microphone and a stable internet connection; we recommend headphones. Choose a private place where you cannot be overheard or interrupted. At the start of the session, the psychologist may confirm your identity, where you are and an emergency contact.
What are the limits and risks of online therapy?
Remote sessions make access and continuity easier, but part of the non-verbal communication is lost, quality depends on your connection, and there are risks of technical failure, interruption or improper access to the communication. They are not suitable for crisis situations or imminent risk: in an emergency, call 112 or your local emergency number. If a session is interrupted by a failure on our side, it is rescheduled or refunded at no cost. Read the full information in our Informed Consent for Online Psychology Sessions.
How do I give my informed consent?
Before your first session, read our Informed Consent for Online Psychology Sessions. You confirm that you have read it and agree before the first session, and the psychologist confirms your consent at the start of the first session and records it in your clinical record. You can withdraw it at any time.
What are my rights as a patient?
You have the right to choose your psychologist and to change psychologist; to receive clear information about the service, prices, risks and alternatives; to give or refuse consent and withdraw it at any time; to confidentiality and protection of your data; to access your clinical record; to obtain proof of attendance; and to make suggestions and complaints. Read the full list of your rights and duties.
Who is on the clinical team?
All sessions are given by psychologists registered with the Ordem dos Psicólogos Portugueses (OPP). We tell you which psychologist you will see before your session, and you can check any registration at www.ordemdospsicologos.pt. Our Clinical Director is Sara Raquel Gonçalves Moniz, psychologist registered with the OPP (professional registration no. 27177).
You don't have to have the words yet
You don't need to know what's wrong, or how to explain it. Showing up is enough — the rest is what the session is for.
